About this Book
The Data Communication has become the de facto standard for Information exchange in today’s networked world. The ubiquitous implementation of specific communication standards has led to an incredible dependence on the applications enabled by it. Today, we use the Data Communication techniques not only for entertainment and information, but to conduct our business by performing transactions, buying and selling products, and delivering services to customers. We are continually extending the set of applications that leverage Digital Communication, thereby driving the need for further infrastructural support.
In Chapter 1, we have introduced mathematical analysis of signals, providing a basic understanding of the underlying concepts essential to the communication.
We have continued our discussion in Chapter 2 about Modulation and Encoding Techniques. In Chapter 3, we have covered basic and advanced concepts and the latest infrastructure trends of Transmission media, including Guided Media, Unguided Media and multiplexing. We have addressed the challenges to these media in some detail as well. In Chapter 4 & 5, we have tried to introduce the basic concepts of data communication Networks & Computer Networks. Continuing in Chapter 6, we will study various standard architectures and Protocols.
Appendices of this book have been added keeping in view the ease of reader to understand the book. Appendix-A will give the reader a practical approach to implement a LAN using EIA/TIA T568 based Structured cabling standard. Appendix-B will help the students to solve the Exercise problems given at the end of each chapter. Appendix-C will provide the definition of the key terms commonly used in the field of Data communication.
